The power supply you need depends on your LED strip’s voltage and total wattage. Here’s a quick guide:

Formula: Power Supply Wattage = LED Strip Wattage per meter × Total meters × 1.2 (20% safety buffer)

Common combinations:
• WS2811 / WS2812B RGB strip (12V, 60 LEDs/m, 5m) → 12V 5A (60W) driver
• 2835 120 LEDs/m (12V, 5m) → 12V 3A (36W) driver
• 5730 LED strip (12V, 5m) → 12V 4A (48W) driver

WS2811 — The control IC is external (separate from the LED). Each IC controls 3 LEDs together. Works on 12V. Good for long runs and outdoor use.

WS2812B — The IC is built into each LED (5050 package). Each LED is individually addressable. Works on 5V. Better for dense, precise animations and short runs.

Both are compatible with Arduino, ESP32, and most LED controllers. If you’re doing stage lighting or garden lighting, WS2811 is preferred. For close-up displays and short strips, WS2812B is better.

We stock both waterproof and non-waterproof versions. Check the product page for the IP rating:

• IP20 — No waterproofing, indoor use only
• IP65 — Splash-proof, suitable for outdoor covered areas
• IP67 — Fully waterproof, suitable for outdoor/garden use
